Sovos Compliance Notifies Northwestern Mutual Clients of MOVEit-Related Data Breach

On July 22, 2023, Sovos Compliance, LLC (“Sovos”) filed a notice of data breach on behalf of Northwestern Mutual after discovering that a secure file transfer program used by Sovos contained a vulnerability resulting in an unauthorized party being able to access files on the company’s MOVEit server. In this notice, Sovos explains that the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access consumers’ sensitive information, although the complete list of affected data types was not provided. Upon completing its investigation, Sovos began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident
