Athene Annuity and Life Company Files Notice of MOVEit Data Breach at Pension Benefit Information

On July 14, 2023, Athene Annuity and Life Company filed a notice of third-party data breach with the Attorney General of Maine after learning that a vendor used by Athene, Pension Benefit Information, LLC (“PBI”), experienced a data breach related to the popular file transfer application MOVEit. The filing included a sample template prepared by PBI, which explained that the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access consumers’ sensitive information, including their names and Social Security numbers. Upon completing its investigation, PBI began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.
