I want to feel like I am in a noble profession.

Man, I am feeling down about this business lately.

Insurance companies have strayed from the business of protection to the business of accumulating assets.

Instead of focusing on consumer value, there has been a transition to focusing on shareholder value.

Life insurance and annuity products are seeing reduced rates in years two plus. Life insurance charges are increasing in years two plus. Non-guaranteed policy elements are being used for bait-and-switch.

Some products are developed with unfriendly consumer features.

I’m not saying that mutual companies are better than publicly-held companies. There are some mutuals that are guilty of these things, just as there are some publicly-held companies that are not.

I just want to work in a business of integrity.

I want to feel proud.

I want to feel like I am in a noble profession.

I miss the good old days…
