Buyers Opt for Annuities Linking to Special Indexes at Record Pace

The indexes were available on 49.8% of all indexed annuities sold in the April through June period, the highest percentage ever, according to Wink’s Sales & Market Report. The S&P 500 Index was an option on 38.4% of the products sold.

“This is the first time that category’s allocations have surpassed the S&P 500 allocations,” said Sheryl Moore, CEO of Wink, publisher of Wink’s Sales & Market Report, which tracks the life and annuity market. “It was a record-low quarter for the S&P 500 allocations.”
