  • Pacific Life Foundation Announces $8 Million Charitable Giving Program for 2022

February 1, 2022 by Pacific Life Foundation

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Pacific Life Foundation has announced plans to make $8 million in charitable contributions in 2022. Supporting communities where Pacific Life employees live and work, including Orange County, California; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lynchburg, Virginia, grants will focus on the areas of arts and culture; civic, community and economic development; environment; education; and health and human services. National grants will focus on the areas of food security, disaster relief, financial stability, and the environment, specifically ocean health and marine mammals.

In January 2022, the Pacific Life Foundation distributed more than $2.1 million to 167 organizations, including $1.3 million to Southern California nonprofits. For a full list of grant recipients, please visit: https://paclife.co/grant-cycle-recipients.

As part of the Pacific Life Foundation’s recent $2 million pledge to improve food security over the next five years, $250,000 will be disbursed in 2022 to local-area food banks, with an additional $150,000 donated this year to Feeding America® in support of its national programs aimed at increasing the sourcing and distribution of fresh, nutritious food. The Pacific Life Foundation has further earmarked $500,000 in grants to be distributed to national partners focused on ocean health and marine mammals, in support of Pacific Life’s more than two-decades-long commitment to protecting the environment and our oceans.

Highlights of the 2022 giving program include:

    3Ts of Education

Annually, the Pacific Life Foundation awards grants to K-12 schools where there are concentrations of children or grandchildren of Pacific Life employees. The 3Ts of Education program supports the following areas: teacher training, textbooks, or technology. In 2022, 153 K-12 schools nationwide have been granted more than $500,000 in funding, including $417,500 to 115 schools in Southern California. Since the program’s inception in 1998, nearly $10 million in 3Ts of Education grants have been distributed.

    Community Engagement Programs

The Pacific Life Foundation invests in the causes its employees care most about by providing ways they can give back to the community through volunteering or matching donations. As part of the newly enhanced program, employees can receive up to $10,500 in matching contributions annually by donating to Pacific Life’s annual United Way campaign, to nonprofits and universities, or from individual and team volunteer efforts.

During 2021, two company-wide virtual volunteer events were held. In partnership with seven charity organizations, employees recorded and donated more than 400 audiobooks, creating a digital library to share the joy of literacy. Over the holiday season, employees and their families created Soap Saves Lives hygiene kits. These kits, which included a personalized card to each recipient, were donated to 50,000 individuals at homeless shelters throughout Orange County, Omaha, and Lynchburg. Additionally, the annual virtual holiday gift drive, provided toys, blankets, clothes, and books to more than 800 underserved children and seniors.

The Pacific Life Foundation has a long history of providing support in times of disaster, having donated $2.7 million to American Red Cross disaster response efforts since 2000. In 2022, the Pacific Life Foundation became a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, helping to ensure the American Red Cross is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S.
