NAIC Announces Special Session on COVID-19 Impact & Response

WASHINGTON (March 5, 2020) — The NAIC will be holding a full-day special session of the nations’ chief state insurance officials on March 22, 2020, to discuss state response and coordination around COVID-19. The special session will include an open meeting where members will hear from experts on the medical, consumer, market and operational impacts of the Coronavirus outbreak. Members will then meet in regulator-only session to discuss state response and coordination efforts, including federal and international coordination.
The Special Session will result in changes to the original national meeting schedule. The NAIC will be providing updates on the special session as well as changes to the national meeting schedule on naic.org in the next few days.
The NAIC will continue to evaluate developments around COVID-19 and the potential impact on the remainder of the National Meeting agenda. We understand that attendance may be impacted due to restrictions on travel for some attendees. There is, however, a long tradition of the NAIC membership meeting in times of crisis to ensure ongoing market stability and consumer protection. Our primary focus remains the health and safety of meeting attendees.
