  • Delaware Life Insurance Company Continues Its Growth by Focusing on Its Customers

January 29, 2019 by Delaware Life Insurance Company

WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Over five years ago, Delaware Life Insurance Company (“Delaware Life”) changed hands but remained committed to its enduring focus—its customers. Delaware Life’s goal is to deliver “pure value” to its customers, which means developing competitive annuity products, providing a seamless customer experience, and serving as an honest and reliable financial institution. This renewed focus and approach has addressed the retirement and legacy needs of consumers while underpinning more than five years of consistent sales growth.

“Our goal has been to build smart solutions using the best brains and technology available in today’s marketplace to help clients achieve their financial and life goals,” said Tom Seitz, Vice President, Distribution. “We constantly focus on delivering pure value to customers and to the network of financial professionals who use our annuity solutions to help their clients.”

“To us, ‘pure value’ is more than products,” Seitz said. “It’s part of everything we do. We want our customers to know what they’re getting and what they’re paying for it. We also want customers and their advisors to feel that it’s easy to do business with Delaware Life.”

Delaware Life has built a product suite that addresses the real risks to retirement and legacy planning, providing solutions for both accumulation and income—and it’s working. Delaware Life was acquired by Group One Thousand One, LLC (“Group1001”) (formerly known as Delaware Life Holdings, LLC) from Sun Life Financial Inc. in August 2013. Since then, Delaware Life has launched seven annuities under the Delaware Life name, with more than $9 billion of total sales.

    Great roots and new opportunities

Delaware Life has a storied history and solid track record of performance in the insurance and annuity space. One of the flagship Group1001 brands, Delaware Life—known as Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (U.S.) until its name changed in July 2014—started issuing contracts in 1973 and is well known for its decades of fixed, fixed index and variable annuity innovations. Drawing from those roots, Delaware Life has built a strong balance sheet and maintains a long-tenured employee base with extensive annuity and life insurance expertise.

Recently, Delaware Life added new talent to its team in the areas of distribution and marketing:

    • Building on Delaware Life’s growing presence in the bank, broker-dealer and insurance marketing organization channels, Tyler Carr was recently named Head of Relationship Management, where he will continue to develop and manage new and existing distributor relationships.
    • Denise Weeks joined Delaware Life’s distribution team as National Relationship Manager, to help further grow the broker-dealer distribution network.
    • Curt Olson joined Delaware Life as Head of National Sales Consulting (NSC), overseeing a team of directors that supports the company’s “pure value” message with educational and training programs for Delaware Life’s selling group member firms and their clients.
    • Working alongside Curt, Sandy McGuire joined the NSC team to lead its marketing and sales development with responsibility for researching, developing and designing content for the NSC directors.

    New brand and website

In 2018, Delaware Life rebranded itself, introducing not only a new logo but also a remake of its internal and external communications and sales materials to reflect its “pure value” focus. A key element of this rebranding effort is the recent launch of a new public website at www.delawarelife.com.
