Introducing Women in Banking: Next (and how to apply)
December 6, 2018 by Bonnie McGeer
About the new ‘Women in Banking: Next’ program
For 16 years, American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance rankings have been celebrating top-performing senior executives. Now we invite you to take part in a new opportunity to advance the mission of gender parity.
Welcome to the launch of Most Powerful Women in Banking: Next.
This award will recognize high-achieving women in the pipeline and bring more visibility to those who are on a path to become the C-suite leaders of tomorrow. Ten women, 40 years of age and younger, will be selected, each with accomplishments and influence that set them apart.
The honorees will be feted at a luncheon May 22 in New York City, during the annual Most Powerful Women LEAD conference.
Eligibility
Each applicant will need a nomination supplied by an executive at her company (a mentor or manager of hers) who can speak to her exceptional work and leadership skills.
Only employees of private sector financial services firms whose activities are primarily focused on commercial or retail banking (i.e., banks, thrifts and bank-owned subsidiaries, divisions, or groups) can participate. In addition, their job must be based in the U.S. or Canada, or their firms must be based in the U.S. or Canada.
Women whose primary employment is at any type of nonbank — including fintech companies that do not have a banking charter, trade associations, regulatory agencies, or professional services firms — are not eligible for this program.
