LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr announced that $3.69 million has been found for Arkansans using the Life Insurance Policy Locator, a program of the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC.)
“Thanks to our partnership with the NAIC on developing the Life Insurance Policy Locator, the Arkansas Insurance Department has been able to match 240 Arkansans with over $3.69 million in lost or misplaced life insurance policies or annuities since November 2016,” Kerr said in the Aug. 29 press release.
“While following up on the finances of a deceased loved one can be an emotional experience, we encourage all Arkansans to log in to see if departed loved ones have left behind previously unknown policies or annuities,” he said.
Through Aug. 20, Arkansans have made 400 requests through the Life Insurance Policy Locator , resulting in 127 matches worth $2.38 million in lost of misplaced life policies, according to the release.
AID and the NAIC developed the locator to provide search capabilities to help find lost life insurance policies and annuities and launched it in November 2016. Across the country, nearly 77,000 people have conducted searches since the policy locator was launched, recovering more than $306.4 million in life insurance benefits.
