AmeriLife, a national leader in the development, marketing and distribution of annuity, life and health insurance solutions headquartered in Clearwater, Fla., announces its new President of Annuities and Retirement Planning.
Denny Southern, who recently served as a Regional Vice President of Marketing for American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company, has joined AmeriLife to lead the company’s annuity strategy initiatives and projects, as well as implementing best practices to enhance sales effectiveness. With a financial services career spanning over 30 years, he managed multiple marketing companies and oversaw nearly 4,000 advisors.
Southern will assist AmeriLife annuity marketing principals with identifying opportunities that will provide a unique value proposition to targeted agents and Independent Marketing Organizations.
His proven performance will help guide AmeriLife’s continued emergence as a strategic provider of annuity and retirement products. Working directly with annuity marketing principals, Southern will focus on selecting and selling the right proprietary products for Annuity and Retirement Planning. Among his responsibilities, he will assist in the development of repeatable strategies to grow distribution across both Career Agency and Brokerage channels.
“Denny has established relationships within our distribution network, and has strong institutional knowledge of our business lines,” said AmeriLife Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer Michael Vietri. “He has supported AmeriLife for close to a decade in his most recent role—growing our annuity division is a natural fit.”
Prior to joining American Equity, Southern owned Midwest Asset Management, Inc., an independent Registered Investment Advisor that specialized in quantitative equity, fixed income and alternative portfolio management. A graduate of Iowa State University, he holds Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
AmeriLife’s annuity, life and health insurance solutions protect the health and retirement needs of Middle America. Leveraging a national distribution network of over 100,000 insurance agents and brokers via nearly 20 marketing organizations, and over 30 insurance agency locations, AmeriLife, and its more than 75 insurance carrier partners, offers value and quality to the insurance industry and its customers.
