WEST DES MOINES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–American Equity Investment Life Holding Company (NYSE: AEL), a leading issuer of fixed index annuities, is sad to announce that Harley A. Whitfield, Sr., a long-serving and respected independent member of the Company’s Board of Directors, passed away on January 9, 2017 after a brief illness. Mr. Whitfield had served as a Director since 1996 and was a member of the Company’s Audit and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.
