MetLife goes for broke in latest SIFI case filing

WASHINGTON — “There is no reasonable possibility” that material financial distress at MetLife would ever pose a threat to the financial stability of the United States, the company argued in a filing to an appeals court on Monday.
The brief was filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit as MetLife continued to seek to block the company’s designation as a systemically important financial institution (SIFI).
