NAFA Presents Annuity Leadership Forum

Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2016) — The National Association for Fixed Annuities is presenting the Annuity Leadership Forum in Washington D.C., June 8-10 at the Grand Hyatt Washington. This industry forum will assemble fixed annuity experts, insurance company executives, compliance and marketing officers, brokerage organizations and financial professionals from throughout the country.

“There are many conferences held throughout the year, but none has this exclusive focus on fixed annuities,” stated NAFA’s Executive Director Chip Anderson. “Leaders in our industry will assemble to meet with their legislators on Capitol Hill and hear updates on key issues impacting our industry and Americans saving for retirement.”

The key issue in the spotlight is the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) fiduciary rule which was formally released on April 8, 2016. The DOL fiduciary rule will have wide-spread impact on the financial industry and Americans saving for retirement. Both the House and Senate have introduced bills in an attempt to halt the DOL fiduciary rule.

NAFA has invited four members of congress to speak at this year’s forum. They include:

• Senator Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.)
  Member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
• Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.)
  Vice chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance
• Representative Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.)
  Member of the House Committee on Financial Services
• Representative Phil Roe (R-Tenn.)
  Member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions.

The keynote address at the 2016 Annuity Leadership Forum will be from Jeff Bush of The Washington Update.
