CNO Names Former Allianz Executive as New President

CARMEL, Ind. – CNO Financial Group has named a former Allianz senior executive as its new president, and promoted a company veteran to the position of chief financial officer.
Appointed president was Gary Bhojwani, previously a member of the board of management at Allianz SE, chairman of Allianz of America, Allianz Life Insurance Co., and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. from 2012 to 2015, according to a statement from CNO.
He replaces Chief Business Officer Scott Perry, who CNO said has left the company to pursue other opportunities.
In his new position, Bhojwani will oversee CNO’s three business segments: Bankers Life, Colonial Penn, and Washington National, the statement said. His duties include marketing, communications, underwriting and new business.
Bhojwani also served as president and chief executive officer of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America from 2007 to 2012.
CNO has also promoted company veteran Erik Helding to executive vice president and CFO. He previously served as senior vice president of treasury and investor relations.
Helding will be responsible for the financial operations of the company, including accounting, controls and reporting, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, treasury, and tax, CNO said. He joined CNO in 2004.
In 2015, CNO Financial Group posted net income of $236.4 million and net premium written of $3.41 billion, according to BestLink.
The operating insurance units of CNO Financial Group have a current Best’s Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent).
