Wink supports local Fitness for Food Fundraiser
November 2, 2015 by Jamie Johnson
The 2015 FITNESS FOR FOOD FUNDRAISER will be held on November 10th, 6 P.M., at Willowbrook Elementary School in Altoona, IA.
100% of all donations to the Fitness for Food Fundraiser are used to purchase turkey dinner meals that feed a family of four through Hy-Vee in Altoona. In return, the dinners are then donated to Caring Hands Food Pantry to be given out to those in need over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
East Coast Tae Kwon Do, will have a student doing one of each of the following exercises for each $1 donated:
- One Squat
- One Jumping jack
- One Kick
- One Push-up
Wink’s VP of Operations, Victoria Peterson will be on hand at the event to count exercises for the students.
The 2014 fundraiser raised a total of $2371 with 56 meals purchased for the Caring Hands Food Bank in Altoona. The students and instructor did a total of 9,484 exercises to truly earn those donations.
This is a great way the kids get to learn that they need to work and earn things through life. The kids get to learn and see how they can personally help another family through the holidays and that THEY CAN make a difference in our community.
