LANSING, Mich. – Jackson National Life Insurance Co. has dedicated an office building to accommodate its “rapidly growing workforce,” as part of a $100 million expansion plan.
The new 230,000-square-foot building, which connects to Jackson’s existing offices through a glass-enclosed walkway, also contains conference facilities and 1,200 new work spaces, the company said in a statement. A new dining hall, dedicated in 2014, has a game room and convenience store, a company statement said. The expansion was announced in 2013.
The complex holds 2,500 employees at its home office, and the company has 4,600 employees nationwide, including 360 new hires in Michigan within the last year. Jackson has satellite offices in Nashville, Tennessee, Tampa, Florida, East and South Lansing, Dallas, and El Segundo, California. The company also has regional offices in Chicago and Denver, Jackson said.
“We fully expect to sustain this momentum and continue expanding our footprint as we focus on our long-term growth,” said James Sopha, president of Jackson, said in a statement.
The company chose to expand in Lansing in part because of its proximity to several top-tier universities and nearby metropolitan areas for staff recruitment, it said.
With $218.9 billion in assets, Jackson wrote $25.35 billion in net premiums in 2014, according to BestLink, and was the top seller of variable annuities in the United States last year at $23.07 billion (Best’s News Service, March 26, 2015). Jackson also markets fixed and fixed index annuities for individuals and institutional investors and currently services more than 4 million policies.
The company is an indirect subsidiary of Prudential plc, based in the United Kingdom, with $794.1 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
Jackson National Life Insurance Co. currently has a Best’s Financial Strength Rating of A+ (Superior).
