Mattax was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to serve until Feb. 1. At the same time, incoming Gov. Greg Abbott said he would re-name Mattax to the post when he becomes governor. Abbott, who was elected to succeed Perry in November, is currently Texas attorney general. He succeeds Julia Rathgeber, who was appointed to the post in May 2013.
Mattax also has served chief of the financial litigation division for the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
And, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Gwen Brady was named director of the territory’s Division of Banking and Insurance by Lt. Gov. and Insurance Commissioner Osbert Potter. Brady has 30 years of experience in a range of fields, including criminal justice, banking compliance and lawmaking, according to a statement issued by Potter’s office.
