Why millennials resist any kind of insurance

TIME is calling the millennial generation “unusually slow to launch” when it comes to purchasing insurance of any kind. Many within this younger generation have famously relied on the support of their parents when times get tough. Therefore, they may view their former guardians as their own type of insurance. Only 13 percent of millennials have disability insurance, 10 percent have homeowner’s insurance, 25 percent have health insurance and 36 percent have life insurance, compared to much higher figures for older generations. —Emily Holbrook
