Robin Williams’ death spotlights the growing risk of suicides among baby boomers

As this article states, more than 100 Americans die from suicide every day. And the problem is not getting any better. In fact, more Americans now die from suicide than from car accidents. That’s indeed a scary thought.
Though suicide rates had declined in the early 2000s, Rutgers sociologist Julie Phillips notes that the trend is appearing to reverse as the boomer cohort “moves into the older age ranges with traditionally higher suicide rates and with the development of increaseing suicide rates among the middle-aged.”
