Hartford, AIG Among Companies With Senior Management Changes in June

OLDWICK, N.J. – The past month has seen senior management changes in all lines, including at Hartford and American International Group.
Hartford Insurance has named Christopher Swift its new chief executive officer and Douglas Elliot the company’s new president, effective July 1. They will succeed current President and CEO Liam McGee. Swift, currently Hartford’s chief financial officer, will be succeeded by Beth Bombara, president of a runoff annuity operation within Hartford (Best’s News Service, June 9, 2014).
Peter Hancock was named the next AIG president and CEO. Hancock currently serves as CEO of AIG Property Casualty and is slated to take the helm Sept. 1 from Robert Benmosche, who is retiring. The transition calls for Benmosche to step into an advisory role in which he will be available to Hancock and act as a management mentor.
Reinsurance broker Faber Global named Alistair Lester, most recently interim head of its Dutch operation, as its CEO. Faber Global, which describes itself as the facultative and wholesale reinsurance arm of Willis Group Holdings plc, also said Jason Howard, its current CEO, has been appointed CEO of Acappella Group Holdings, a new entity being backed by Willis and international property/casualty underwriter Ironshore.
Jacqueline McNamee has been named managing director for the U.K. zone of American International Group in Europe. McNamee moves into the post from her previous position as executive director of AIG’s U.K. commercial lines business. She succeeds Nicolas Aubert, who has been named chief operating officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Christopher M. Hilger, president of Securian Financial Group, will add the title of CEO, starting Jan. 1, 2015. Hilger will take over for Robert L. Senkler, CEO and chairman, who will retire after serving as CEO for 20 years.
Insurance broker Marsh said Chris Lay has been named president of its global captive solutions business, effective July 1. Based in London, Lay will focus on the priorities to drive growth across the business’s operations and future platform. Lay succeeds Michael Cormier, who will continue as CEO of Marsh Risk Consulting.
Crum & Forster said Anthony R. Slimowicz is the firm’s chief claims officer and senior vice president, effective June 30. Most recently, Slimowicz served as chief legal officer for Coordinated Health in Allentown, Pa., and as COO for AJS Capital Holdings in Warren, N.J.
Aviva plc named Chris Wei CEO of global life insurance and chairman of Asia to guide the strategic direction of the company’s life insurance businesses. The appointment has received regulatory approval, and Wei will take up the new role in October 2014.
Specialty insurer American Modern Insurance Group said it has hired Tammy Nelson as senior vice president and chief marketing officer in charge of marketing and promoting the company’s products.
Frank Koster, formerly a CEO at ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, has been named CEO of Axa Belgium, effective Sept. 1. He will succeed Emmanuel de Talhouet in the post.
Lockton Insurance Brokers appointed Ian Walton CEO of Lockton Insurance Brokers (LLC) UAE.
