As the youngest baby boomers turn age 50 this year, many will want to take advantage of catch-up contributions available to those participating in 401(k) plans (the IRS limit this year is $5,500, an amount unchanged from the 2013 total) and individual retirement accounts ($1,000, also unchanged from last year). Many will also be looking to financial advisors for tax planning advice –including information on certain tax facts that planners in need of a refresher may be unfamilar with.
