    NEWS RELEASE

Sammons® Financial Group Contributes for Transformational Change in 2013

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA, JANUARY 17, 2014 – Sammons® Financial Group (SFG) has contributed substantial funds to local partner charitable organizations in their Midwest locations throughout 2013. The $3.3 million increase in giving was a direct result of Sammons Enterprises’ Inc. (the ultimate parent company of SFG) celebration of their 75th anniversary. The goal for the funds was to create transformational change by providing a one-time, large contribution that would impact an organization for years to come. SFG looked to partner with local organizations with long-standing relationships and significant employee involvement in their four operating locations of West Des Moines, Chicago, Fargo, and Sioux Falls.

The additional funds were used in the following ways at each of the four SFG locations:

    • Des Moines: Technology upgrades for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa; kitchen upgrades to support the Breakfast and Supper Club meal programs for Children and Family Urban Movement; renovations of living units serving 48 children with emotional and behavioral challenges for Orchard Place; technology upgrades and new vehicles for Special Olympics Iowa.
    • Chicago: City-wide youth program for Chicago Parks District; inner city respite for ill and injured homeless adults for Interfaith Housing; technology purchase of document readers, smart boards, and iPads for Galileo Scholastic Academy of Math and Science.
    • Fargo: Playground and building renovations for permanent supportive housing of homeless and at-risk youth for Fraser, Ltd.; security system and medical room for low-income elderly housing for Southeastern North Dakota Community Action Agency; new furnace, flooring, and shower renovations for the New Life Center, a homeless shelter for men.
    • Sioux Falls: Kitchen renovations, conference room and audio-visual equipment, new physical and occupational therapy areas for South Dakota Achieve; funding a multi-use facility that provides a meeting place for those with disabilities for Special Olympics South Dakota; help to establish an endowment fund for Junior Achievement South Dakota; new combination oven and funds for future expansion of services for feeding the community’s hungry for The Banquet. “We were very fortunate to be able to make a significant impact in the communities in which we live and work,” stated Esfand Dinshaw, CEO of Sammons Financial Group. “SFG employees share a true spirit of giving that has been supported by our parent company and is now a big part of our culture. Whether we give monetarily or contribute our time, we gain the satisfaction of making a difference in our communities.”
