Kansas City Life Earnings Jump 72 Percent

Nov. 08–Kansas City Life Insurance Co. earned $7.1 million, or 65 cents a share, in the third quarter. Its profits were up 72 percent from a year ago when the company earned $4.1 million, or 38 cents a share.
The company’s Thursday announcement said its higher profit reflected higher contract charges and gains on investments.
Revenues totaled $119.4 million in the quarter, up from $104.3 million a year ago.
