  • Former Marine Captain, Adam Brochetti, of Lincoln Financial Group Says Military Training Helps Veterans Become Valuable Assets to Any Work Environment

    November 8, 2013 by PRNewswire

Marine Captain Brochetti Invited by NYSE to Underscore Amazing Potential of Vets as Job Candidates

RADNOR, Pa., Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — “Veterans are trained to adapt to their settings, work together to achieve a common goal, and complete the task at hand in the most efficient manner possible making them valuable assets to any work environment,” said Adam Brochetti, an Inbound Sales Representative on the Variable Annuities Sales Team for Lincoln Financial Distributors (LFD), the wholesale distribution subsidiary of Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC). A former Marine Captain, Brochetti underscored this point at the New York Stock Exchange’s second annual Call to Action Forum, “Advancing the Mission: Unlocking the Potential of America’s Veterans.”

Brochetti participated on a panel titled, “Myths and Misconceptions about Post Traumatic Stress (PTS).” The panel shed light on the devastating but often misunderstood disorder, addressing perceived misconceptions, underscoring how it affects more than war veterans, and how most are able to overcome the disorder. Brochetti emphasized that these veterans typically go on to use their extensive training, strong leadership skills and deep experience in team-building under the most extreme circumstances to become integral resources in the U.S. corporate workplace.

“The reality is that not all Veterans have PTS,” said Brochetti. “PTS most often occurs as the result of our men and women being exposed to very traumatic events over the course of their combat deployments. Not everyone who experiences these traumatic events struggle with PTS. A Veteran suffering from varying degrees of PTS is no different than a non-veteran who may be struggling with the aftermath of a traumatic event that they experienced in their own life.”

“It is an honor to have those who have bravely served our country as part of our Lincoln family,” said Will Fuller, president of Lincoln Financial Group Distribution. “Building our company with talent from the military benefits everyone including our employees, strategic partners, clients, and the community, because of the unique experience and knowledge those who have served bring to the workplace.”

The goal of the NYSE forum was to underscore the value veterans bring to the workplace and to highlight the important roles companies can play in helping tap into a world-class, immediately available pool of talent. Attendees of the event included leaders of organizations working toward connecting our military veterans with the private sector.
