New NAPFA national chair assumes office
September 9, 2013 by Paula Aven Gladych
Linda Leitz has taken over as national chair of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.
She was elected by NAPFA’s National Board of Directors to the position on Jan. 31, 2013, and started her term on Sept. 1. She will serve until Aug. 31, 2014.
Leitz is the founder and co-owner of It’s Not Just Money, Inc., a Colorado Springs, Colo.-based fee-only financial planning firm. A big proponent of the fee-only model, she believes NAPFA is perfectly situated to help brokers who would like to transition to a fee-based model and become investment advisors.
Leitz wants to organize NAPFA into subgroups so that individual members can connect with others who have similar business models. The organization has about 2,400 members.
She has a degree in Business Administration from Principia College and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
Leitz is a certified financial planner, a certified divorce financial analyst and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Personal Financial Planning program at Kansas State University.
She is active in many community and professional activities. She currently serves on the West Region Board of Directors of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. She is past president of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and of the High Noon Sertoma Club.
