MINNEAPOLIS – June 17, 2013 – Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) has been named one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Minnesota. Allianz Life, a leader in insured retirement solutions, employs about 2,000 throughout the United States and ranked 19th on the 2013 list. The Star Tribune Top Workplaces special section was published in the Star Tribune on Sunday, June 16. The report can also be found at StarTribune.com/jobs/topworkplaces2013.
The Top 100 Workplaces Award recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota. Nearly 1,900 companies were invited to participate in the competition, which evaluates employee opinions about organizational health, job expectations and employee engagement. Rankings were based on composite scores calculated purely on the basis of 64,300 employee responses to a survey. Allianz Life gained top ranking because of its high level of employee engagement and commitment to professional development, according to Top Workplaces.
“Our strong communications culture and emphasis on employee recognition help employees feel confident about the company and their role in making Allianz Life among the top places to work in Minnesota,” said Allianz Life President and CEO Walter White. “We’re also helping employees to achieve a better work/life balance through a wide variety of health-focused initiatives, including resources that address financial fitness. We believe these factors make us unique and add to our reputation as a leader in the financial services industry.”
Employees who responded to the survey commented on the opportunities offered at Allianz Life. These include career building opportunities, tuition reimbursement, leadership development programs, and a top rated benefits package. Many employees cited the on-site child care center as an important resource for them. Another benefit offered to employees includes the complementary retirement planning tools and financial advisors that help employees plan for retirement.
To qualify for the Star Tribune Top Workplaces, a company must have more than 50 employees in Minnesota. Nearly 2,000 Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations competed in the 2013 Top Workplaces Award. The award is administered by WorkplaceDynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention.
Star Tribune Publisher Michael J. Klingensmith said, “The companies in the Star Tribune Top 100 Workplaces deserve high praise for creating the very best work environments in the state of Minnesota. My congratulations to each of these exceptional companies.”
