Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation Commissioner Ken Ross announced Tuesday that he will leave his position Friday, almost a year before his term was to end.
Ross has been Michigan’s insurance and financial commissioner since February 2008, an appointed position with a four-year term.
Jason Moon, a spokesman for Ross, said Ross “will talk about his future plans at a later date.”
Ross oversaw the agency at a key time when Michigan began to implement federal health reforms. He also worked successfully on new protections against mortgage and securities fraud.
Previously, Ross was the agency’s deputy commissioner for policy and the chief of staff. He also has worked as a state assistant attorney general and as vice president of regulatory and legal affairs for the Michigan Credit Union League.
