Conseco Inc. (NYSE:CNO) wants to become CNO Financial Group Inc.
Conseco, Carmel, Ind., will ask shareholders for permission to change its name May 11, at the company’s annual meeting, the company says.
Conseco is the parent of Bankers Life and Casualty Company, Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company, and Washington National Insurance Company.
The proposed name change reflects the company’s improved financial stability and sharpened strategic focus, Conseco says.
The change also would help separate the identity of the holding company—an investor brand—from the identities of the operating company insurance brands, which are agent and consumer brands, the company says.
The new name would incorporate the company’s existing New York Stock Exchange symbol.
The name change would not affect Conseco’s ownership structure or insurance business operations, the company says.
